Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) at Melbourne Polytechnic
Melbourne Polytechnic's Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is a free service to help eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants improve their English language skills and settle into Australia.
You will learn about life in Australia and how to become an independent and valuable contributor to the community.
Our AMEP is delivered at our Epping and Preston campuses.
When you are in an AMEP class, free child care is available for children under school age.
If you are aged 18 or over, you can join the AMEP if you speak little or no English and you:
If you are aged 15 to 17, you may be able to join the AMEP. Contact us to find out more.
If you arrived in Australia on or before 1 October 2020
You can stay in the AMEP until you reach a vocational level of English. You have no time limits for starting and finishing the program.
If you arrived in Australia after 1 October 2020
You have time limits for registering, starting and finishing the program from your visa start date.

Melbourne Polytechnic Epping Campus offers dedicated classes for our EAL Youth students aged from 16 to 24 who have recently arrived in Australia. YAMEC (Youth Adult Migrant Education Courses) are designed for young people with many interactive activities, incursions and excursions. Extra support is offered to help students to learn more about Australia, to make friends, and to find work in Australia.
