Con Emmanuelle

portrait of Con Emmanuelle

Con is a professional artist and designer. He teaches at Melbourne Polytechnic across a variety of creative industry courses. Con has managed to successfully maintain both teaching and his private art practice to be able to deliver current 'real world' skills and techniques that mirror the graphic arts workplace.

His art practice, freelance design and photography experience have kept him abreast of current workplace practices and up to the minute developments in the field. This currency translates into exceptional teaching experience, validity and knowledge. But it is his love for teaching art that has helped him earn praise and recognition amongst his colleagues and students.

With over twenty-seven years experience in teaching at the tertiary level, Con's art and design experience has allowed him to develop outstanding instructional guides and teaching resources that elevate the quality of learning for students and improve professional delivery methods. Rather than rely on teacher-led delivery, Con encourages his students to play a more active role in their learning, through discussions, role play and simulated activities. This way, the students become active learners and entrepreneurs in the class activity rather than passive onlookers. The thrill of nurturing talent and helping students to realise their own creative potential is one of the most satisfying outcomes of teaching in the creative arts sector for Con.

Con has a Diploma of Graphic Design, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Learning, a Bachelor Degree in Tertiary Education and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Con’s exhibitions are often sold-out within days and he has received world-wide acclaim for his Tales of Cyprus cultural heritage project including an acknowledgement award from the President of Cyprus. His book 'Tales of Cyprus: A tribute to a bygone era' was self-published in 2018 and is almost sold out. Con continues to work on his personal art projects alongside teaching at Melbourne Polytechnic.
