Melbourne Polytechnic’s Prahran campus is alive with activity and reflects its creative surrounds. Located right in the middle of Melbourne’s visual and performing arts scene, you’ll find our Prahran campus just metres off the iconic Chapel Street.
Melbourne Polytechnic Prahran’s mission is to improve access to creative training and arts facilities for our students and the wider public. We offer outstanding arts facilities, a broad range of creative arts training courses and provide opportunities for students to gain real-world industry experience while on-campus. Our Live Production and Theatre Arts students learn about the world of the stage, performing and working in the David Williamson Theatre, our Costume and Specialist Makeup students prepare for industry in specialised work rooms and studios. Glass and Glazing students discover the beauty of creating work in leadlight and kiln fired glass with the only course in the world offering a trade qualification in designed glass. Jewellery students build skills to design and create beautiful jewellery and objects of value and sentiment.
Our campus is buzzing yet spacious, with areas dedicated to each creative discipline and ample space for students to chill between classes. We collaborate closely with the City of Stonnington and other key stakeholders to help build a strong Melbourne Polytechnic community in Prahran.
Study
Along with the course study, students have access to our Library, where you can work on a PC or your laptop, do research work, read a book in armchairs, or head upstairs for our quiet study and break-out rooms.
Relax
A fully equipped Student Lounge is available to all students, even after hours. If you’d like to have a coffee or lunch on campus, you can head to our café, The Apprentice, on High Street, and choose from fresh hot and cold options.
Explore
Check out the latest exhibition of glass design work at the Glaas Inc Gallery, 142 High Street, featuring work by past and present students. Walk up to Chapel Street and take advantage of cheap eats, eclectic shops and hidden cultural gems. At night, the entertainment options are endless. You could catch up with friends at one of the many eateries or bars dotted along the street, check out an exhibition or show at Chapel off Chapel, or even head to the cinema.
