Experience an authentic floristry course in Melbourne with Melbourne Polytechnic’s Certificate III in Floristry SFL30115. This course will prepare you with the fundamentals of the floristry trade from design through to creation of floral arrangements.
In Australia’s steady floristry industry, skilled and creative florists are always in demand. You’ll have hands-on experience in a range of floral techniques, allowing your skill set to flourish like never before.
Gain experience and knowledge with a Certificate III in Floristry SFL30115
With qualified industry florists guiding you throughout your course, you will be instructed in flower and foliage identification and design and display processes, as well as retail skills and customer service.
You will also cover complex floral design and construction techniques and business-oriented skills, including customer consultation and quotation.
Melbourne Polytechnic’s partnership with Melbourne Market Authority and the Nursery and Garden Industry of Victoria will allow you to assist during the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, and enter competitions. Our students have frequently won awards at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, including the intermediate and advanced Student Floral Design Competition and the overall stall competition.

Assessment Methods
Assessment is based on your ability to achieve unit outcomes and demonstrate competency. Various forms of assessment may be used including demonstration of skills, tests and assignments, folios, and third party reports. Student are also required to undertake 50 – 70 hours of work placement in floristry related business.

Fees displayed are effective for new applications received on or after 1st of November. Tuition fees do not include textbooks, course materials or overseas student health insurance and visa fees.
After initial deposit, international students are able to pay tuition fees in installments, four times per year.

Concession fees are charged at 20 per cent of the standard fees for enrolments in Certificate I to IV courses. To be eligible students must meet Skills First eligibility criteria and present a valid:
- Commonwealth Health Care card, or
- Pensioner Concession card, or
- Any dependent spouse or dependent child of one of the above cardholders, or
- Veterans Gold card.
The following groups are eligible for concession fees from Certificate I to Advanced Diploma level:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Asylum Seekers and victims of human trafficking
Additional expenses
The Student Services and Amenities Fee is charged at forty cents (40 cents) per student contact hour and is capped over a twelve (12) month period, effective from the enrolment date, to:
- $250 for full fee-paying students; and
- $175 for concession-paying students studying Certificate I, II, III, or IV.
Amenities fees are used to improve non-academic services including libraries, counselling services, student support, and recreational activities.
Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites for this course.
Skills required:
Physical skills – Floristry is hands on and requires a degree of fine motor skills, strength and mobility. Students will be required to lift buckets, unpack stock, undertake house keeping duties, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Support and reasonable adjustments are available for students through the Student Equity and Access Service.
Technological skills – Students will require basic computer skills to access learner resources and submit assessments via Moodle and other online platforms. Learning support is available for students through Learning Skills.
Communication skills - Students will require a level of numeracy and literacy skills which will enable them to participate in written activities and assessments. Students will be required to undertake various teamwork activities and undertake work placement within a floristry business. Numeracy and literacy support are available through Learning Skills. Further support and reasonable adjustments are available through the Student Equity and Access Service.
Work placement requirements - Students are required to complete 50 hours of work placement in a floristry related business.
