PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic is a computer-based test of English language ability specifically designed for student visa and migration applicants. You can register for a PTE account and book online or call Pearson on 1800 729 282.

PTE Academic is approved by the Australian government for visa applications, and is accepted by all Australian universities. You can find a list of institutions that accept PTE scores here.

  • Results are available online five days after you sit the test

Melbourne Polytechnic’s Preston campus has two purpose-built Pearson Select Test Centres, each with ten testing stations.

PTE Academic Fees

Australian test fee $475*

*Fees may be updated without notice. Please check the Pearson PTE website for the latest updates.
Bookings within 48 hours of the test date via candidate helpline, could attract a late booking fee.

PTE Academic Test Timetable

Monday to Friday
Room 315: 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 3:15 PM, and 6:30 PM
Room 313: 9:15 AM, 12:15 PM, 3:30 PM, and 6:45 PM

Saturday
Room 315: 9:00 AM, 12:15 PM, and 3:30 PM
Room 313: 9:15 AM, 12:30 PM, and 3:45 PM

Important information:

  1. You must bring a valid government-issued passport that includes your full name, photo, date of birth, gender, and signature. All names listed on your passport must match all the names listed on your PTE registration.
  2. If you do not have a passport or are stateless, you must contact the Pearson candidate helpline before booking your test.
  3. Late arrivals will not be permitted to sit the test. Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled test time to allow for admission processing.
